Six things that cost a camera house money

A kit goes out, a lens cap comes back
A package is one line on the order and forty items in the case. Kits reserve and return every component on its own, so check-in shows the 35 mm and the follow focus that did not come home before the client leaves the car park.

Shoot dates that move twice a week
A two-day shoot slips to Thursday and a second production wants the same body. Availability is worked out per day across confirmed jobs and open quotes, so the clash shows up while you can still sub-hire.

Damage on a body worth more than the hire
A scratched element or a bent mount is a five-figure problem. Prep and check-in inspections capture condition photos against the serial, so a claim has evidence with a date on it.

Can a camera package be quoted as one line?
Yes. Build the package once as a kit and quote it at a package price. Rentablez still reserves, preps and checks in every component separately, so availability stays accurate and check-in shows exactly which lens or accessory has not come back.
Is every item tracked by serial number?
Yes. Bodies, lenses, monitors and wireless units are serialised with their own condition history, photos, purchase and warranty documents and replacement value. Consumables such as cards, gels and tape are held as bulk stock by quantity.
How does prep and check-in work?
The mobile app scans barcode or QR labels to move items through picked, prepped, checked out and checked in against the job. Condition photos and defects are recorded per serial, and a fault can be escalated straight to a service job that blocks the item from going out again.
Can I handle sub-hire from another rental house?
Yes. Sub-rentals bring a supplier's gear into your own order as stock for the dates you need it, so the prep list, the availability count and the invoice all reflect the real job, and the supplier cost sits against it.
Does it support weekend and multi-day rates?
Yes. Set daily, weekly and monthly rates, and use duration-discount price lists so a three-day or Friday-to-Monday hire prices the way you quote it rather than as three separate days.
How are deposits and damage handled?
Security deposits are held against the customer separately from the hire charge and released or adjusted on return. Damage found at check-in is raised as a charge against the job, with the inspection photos attached.
Can clients see availability and book online?
Yes. The web store is a public catalogue on your own subdomain showing real availability for the client's shoot dates. Requests arrive as quotations you approve — nothing is confirmed automatically.
